Lunch: Ivan

Ivan's pork pies and pate, salad, bread

We are horrible. Ivan brings us all this nice food and what do we do? We took Ivan up Sandy Lane and down the tramway.

Dinner:

salt cod, garlic, red peppers, potato in layers like a gratin but it didn't set like a gratin, salsa of tomatoes chilli shallot avocado oil, lime juice.

an experiment, I fantasised about how it should turn out but maybe it only sets to a creamy but firm texture if you have actual cream, it was nice flavour tho

Leg of lamb in vine leaves with barberries, chick peas; bulghar and peas

The lam got put in 3pm, we ate it about 7pm. I wrapped it in oads of leaves from our vine and potroasted at gas3, also barberries thrown in and garlic and a bit of water. Then we went cycling and we took Ivan up Sandy Lane on the way back, we are horrible but it is John's fault really for telling us about it.

Should have added more water to make more sauce, it reduced too much but it was really delicious, the lamb very juicy. Chickpeas (cooked) thrown in towards the end.

We had the last bottle of the d'Angludet with this -fab.

Anise ice cream, roasted plums with sesame

2 eggs, 8floz cream, 1 staranise ground, 2.5 tbs muscovado sugar, .5 tsp ginger, 1/4 cinammon. Make custard with spices and sugar, leave to cool and infuse then strain. The mixture froze quite quickly, within a couple of minutes, so I had to fish it out. A couple of hours in the freezer and it was perfect. Good flavour.
