This was an African-theme dinner, because Diana had been to Kenya

Black eye beans with onion, chilli, peanuts, tomatoes

Chicken curry, rice (Diana) chard with coconut milk and chilli (me)

Banana ice cream with mango

2 eggs, 5floz double cream, 3 tbs sugar, dash of vanilla extract and Angotura bitters, 1 smallish banana mashed.

Lunch: spag, gorgonzola, chard

Dinner: celeriac and red pepper, fried potato

Pears baked then filled with soaked dried cherries, cream, amaretti

WR goat cheese and courgette risotto bake

spag with artichokes, parma ham, olives; salad

Spag with cockles, garlic, chilli, tomatoes

Apples and blackberries, lemon custard, toasted oatmeal

Wednesday 7.9

tomato polenta chipotle soup

sweet potato and aubergine slices in gram-sesame batter, fried; mango salsa; spinach; basmati and wild rice

BBQ Lamb, lentils and spinach, plums in orange and cardamom salad dressing, bulghar

Lamb was last of the BBQ remains from May, plums lightly poached in a tbs or two in the salad dressing Connie and Chas got us - sounds strange but it works really well. Plums slighly cooked take on different flavours from raw.

The big chilli looked to big to be that hot, but they were hot
